Huntsville Precision Concrete installs concrete driveways across Huntsville, AL at $6 to $12 per square foot. That puts a standard two-car driveway at roughly $2,400 to $4,800, and a longer three-car layout closer to $4,300 to $8,600.
Four things decide where a project lands in that range: square footage, slab thickness and reinforcement, how much excavation and base work the site needs, and whether the finish is a plain broom finish or something decorative.
Two costs account for most of the surprises and are usually missing from a bid that looks cheap: tearing out and hauling off the existing driveway, and the base preparation that Madison County clay soils require. Both are priced below.

Square footage is the biggest single factor. At the $6 to $12 per square foot we price in the Huntsville area:
Nationally, plain concrete runs $5 to $8 per square foot and basic finishes $8 to $14, with most complete driveways between $3,200 and $13,000. A 2026 figure for a 4-inch fibermesh-reinforced 3,500 PSI slab with a broom finish is $9.59 to $11.78 per square foot. North Alabama sits toward the lower half of that range.
Our number includes:
National calculators often quote a bare installation figure that excludes excavation, the gravel base layer, compaction and demolition of what is already there. Those are real costs on most Huntsville driveways, so compare bids on what is included rather than on the headline number.
We pour at a minimum of 4 inches for passenger vehicles and 5 to 6 inches where work trucks, RVs or trailers will park. Going from 4 to 5 inches adds about 20 percent to the concrete cost and increases load capacity by close to 50 percent.
Wire mesh suits slabs 4 to 5 inches thick; rebar on a 12-inch grid is the right call at 5 inches and above.
Concrete work in North Alabama has to account for clay-heavy soils, freeze-thaw cycles in winter, and heavy summer rainfall. A slab poured on poorly compacted clay will crack regardless of how good the concrete is.
On expansive soils, 2 to 8 inches of crushed rock gets used as subgrade depending on how expansive the ground is. A lot needing extra excavation, fill or drainage prices above a flat, well-drained site, and slopes or tight truck access add to it.
A broom finish is the baseline. Integral color, exposed aggregate and decorative borders move you up the range, and full stamped work can push past $14 per square foot.
Tear-out and haul-off runs around $1 per square foot — roughly $400 on a 400-square-foot driveway, before any new concrete is placed.
Resurfacing runs $3 to $10 per square foot and works when the slab underneath is sound and the problem is surface wear.
Cracking from a failed base, settlement or heave comes back through any overlay. Concrete leveling and mudjacking can correct a slab that has settled but is otherwise intact; past that, replacement is the more economical answer over the life of the driveway.
Square-foot pricing gets you a budget. An accurate figure needs someone on site looking at the grade, the existing slab, the access and what the driveway will carry.
